Anyone use MPCs for writing or live shows? If not, what do you use to write drum parts?

True, I've done some drum parts in my MPC2500 but am now back to Cubase & Battery at the moment. I use the MPC whenever the desktop isn't accessible.

i have an mpc 2000 xl and i use it for my drums quite often. sometimes i hook all my synths to it. i love the groove of the mpc.
mine has a cf cardreader installed so i can just dump all my wav samples from my mac into the mpc real easy. there is a software for osx that lets you create programs...great app

what a tease. What's the app?

I think the mpc2000 is a good one for this application. I like the MPC-1000 but its a little too clean.

Wasn't the S950 a bit gritty so it packed a wallop, despite it's small sampling memory?

The 950 was 12bit and pretty gritty, paired a lot with an mpc for hiphop stuff.
Today tho the trend is to be pretty clean, which isn't a bad thing when done right. |
