Had a bit more of a play with this. So far mostly been trying out the Pultec as I've been wanting a good emu of that for some time now since selling my UAD. So far it's working about as it should, easy to add lows or highs in most situations. I tried the Linear EQ, was ok although seemed a bit more coloured than it should be. The limiter I'm still not sure about, works in some cases but also seemed easy to overdo, but this is true for a lot of things.

The one thing that is really bugging me though is the delay when bypassing or switching tracks sometimes. Even with the oversampling and linear phase off and set to low latency I'm still experiencing this. There is a build in compare function that gets around this but on a track level application the cpu usage and delay hinder workflow.

I didn't check the opto and fairchild comps yet as generally I wouldn't use these for mastering, but maybe they are cool on a drum buss or something similar.

jes,

been using chandler Abbey road pultec style eqs for about 3 mths now and i love there sound very clean and colored if you push it enough. I am much happier with them than the trident/toft eqs i was using previously.

So def +1 for pultec style or straight up original pultecs.

That's the one thing you don't get on the plugs is the ability to drive them which is definitely nice. I might get a custom one built sometime though and just be done with it.
