Upload Testers Needed
#21
Medway Wrote:No didn't even get an error on that one which is weird. What did it show on your end?

I think for now I'm just going to try the soundcloud drop box and have .rar and .zip files sent to my email.

I spoke to another mastering guy in the UK also having issues with Sendspace and it seems like they might be banned from UK for the fact some people use it for illegal file sharing.

it just kind of froze, came back from lunch and it hadn't finished or shown an error msg

I had such problems in past.

It is not a problem of Medway site, but Your computer/internet.

I had such problems when i had problems with java or flash, depends how progress bar works .And on opera usually.
I can upload 5 times a file and i bet it will work every time ,i almost finished downloading an old movie,

so i think i will upload it to medway dropbox to check if my words are true.Iwill upload 3x 100mb parts .

It just depends too much on system condition

ok i start,i will upload 3 100mb parts of old movie, medway will gues what it is after title, packed with rar

a o74 are the names of files

I tell you.I am almost 100% sure of it.

Those systems of uploading btw fail so often for diffrent people because it depends too much on our browsers, stability of connection etc.

For me your www uploading worked perfect and i bet it would everytime because my firefox under xp with sp3 is perfectly stable, but i know that in past it often pissed me off when my system sucked. It depends too much on condition of uploading machine /browser /internet connection.

Yes it seems it either works totally fine or very dodgy. It's using HTML POST command to upload as well which I believe has to buffer the whole file in memory before saving. Figure might as well put my Pro account in Soundcloud to use anyhow. Will still be on the lookout though for a premium based solution as I really liked using the SendSpace wizard.

Not sure I saw anything else come through. You can queue as many files as you like so you should be able to have 3 'loaded' at once.

I think this method is just too fragile though and will not work on everyones system as stable as more robust ones. I even tried a payed Perl script demo and it disconnected from the transfer midway through. I am curious as to what protocol the sites like Sendspace use, if its some form of FTP but through browser based control.

Thats mine J, it was ok for the first 10min or so when i first uploaded it.
After which i had a queued notice. Waited for abit but nothing happened.
Used firefox on OSX over a wireless connection so that could be a problem.
I don't have issues uploading huge or the same file size (in this case 70mb) to my own server though.

In regards to sendspace, it is a known fact that they have frequent downtime issues with their servers. Has also become a torrent keyword favourite now with freeloaders. Apart from that they are really fast for huge files and are hard to beat. Have a look at yousendit when you have the time, less downtime imo, comparable speed and has a PRO acct as well.

Really nice new look on the website front by the way Smile

I actually had no problems with downtime of the server, was just a uk thing as I could access them from a proxy or my mobile. I looked into YouSendIt but just to have a dropbox imbedded on your site was an extra 30$ a month on top of the normal fee for the file transfers. Both Megaupload and Sendspace give that for free so seemed a bit rich to charge for it.

Thanks Smile

BTW, are you still keeping it so we can use our ftp client to upload files? Think we talked about this before, but can't remember if you decided or not. Personally I love ftp; it always seems more stable than browser uploading.
