Your Favorite SoftSynths
#1
Hi everyone, I'm a total newbie when it comes to SoftSynths but have been having the urge to pick one up recently. What are some of your favorite SoftSynths? I guess I'm looking for something that sounds great, is flexible with regards to sound creation, and something that I can use on tracks regularly Smile

Cheers,
Maru

I like the Arturia synths like the Minimoog or the Arp2600.

Hey Maru, welcome to the board.

Ye can't go wrong with Pappens Softsynths, Predator and Blue or uhe Zebra 2 and the FM8. The CS80 is pretty good too

If you don't mind getting your feet wet a little I'd really suggest Zebra 2. I think I've I had to choose just one that would be it.

If you want something warm and analogy sounding then the Arturia stuff is great. The two would really compliment each other.

Thanks for the suggestions. The Papen synths and the Zebra 2 sound pretty cool from the demos that I listened to. I'll have to read up some more on them to figure out which one will work best for me.

What do you guys think about vanguard or nexus softsynths? Are they pretty versatile instruments? The demos for those sound great as well.

As for the analog type softsynths, I picked up an analog synth a few years ago so I can just use that. I'm mainly looking for something that's really versatile like the Virus

I'm a bit biased, but I don't think that you will find an analog synth that is as versatile as the Virus. It can cover a range of synths.

Vanguard is good for electroy rude sounding stuff in addition to trancy riffs, think bright and aggressive. Nexus is not so much a synth but a ROMpler style synth, really nice presets and a good thing to go to if u need a unique modern sound for a riff quickly. You can edit Nexus but it's biggest advantage is the presets which are 'record' ready. But a lot of it is based off samples of other synths like the Nord lead etc... its not purely done by raw sythesis inside the plugin itself.

I agree though that the Virus is a one stop shop, it has a sound but it's also one of those synths you could make a whole record with just that on it's own.
