Since you have a bassline that's hitting in an upper octave mainly (from what I can tell just 100-120hz or so) you need a nice fat kick to anchor the rest of the bottom end.

The kick you have now is too hard and you don't have any freqs below 55hz really. There's also too much going on from 120-500 or so, which is causing the muddyness. You're also missing some mids and highs from about 5k up.

Overall the track has a dark/hard feel to it frequency wise. Some lower bottom and top and will help it breath.

Hard to say without seeing how you eq'd everything already. I generally don't have a problem with too much mids and highs, if anything I tend to cut there.

Also be careful on your limiting, especially with the type of sharp stab you have in the break. If you go to 4 min 14sec 228.4.ms you can see a clip. This doesn't sound bad on drums but for these types of stabs you'll always hear a little pop.

Im curious about the 120-500hz area.

If I'm listening to my bass track, or my kick track, how do I figure out which frequencies need to be cut? Do I slowly scan with the eq and try and pick out the most annoying frequency and cut that? Or do I base one on what I did with the other? Like if I cut the kick at 150 do I cut some the bass out at 250?

Typically is 500 and below all bass and kick or would other instruments or drums have low cut filters set to cut below 500hz?

That's pretty much the idea. In your case I'd keep the 120 for the bassline since thats the fundamental so would be needed for the riff itself to be established. Then you can reduce above that. The key is to take out as much as you can while still having enough harmonics to create the tone needed for it to stand out enough in the mix (or you can just raise the volume overall).

For kicks I don't like 120 anyways so would be a first choice to remove.

You can also try getting rid of 3-500 on the kick too, as in do two cuts.

AsI said, remove as much as you can while still letting the kick and bass have definition, the more you can clean the more the mix will open up.

It's ok to have some of the other instruments down at 500 or so, as long as they don't contain too much in this area. If you take out too much here you can get a thin or hollow sounding mix. It's that balance.
