Is Twitter just like a facebook status?

Does anyone use aim? I just got it. It seems to be used a lot by producers for sharing tracks? Can anyone confirm this? Is it possible to look up some bigger names and get them on your aim list? Ie if I wanted to give tracks to Dennis Ruyer could I just add him on AIM?

No highjack intended!

..twitter...

Not yet but I'm sure I'll cave in soon enough. Man, how many of these sites will there be?

Twitter is what I believe Facebook got its status idea from. It's been around quite a while but mainly populated with web deb and internet marketing people, it seems people in the music biz are just now catching on.

Aim's been around for ages, at least 10 years ago is when I first signed on, and ya used it a lot for sharing tracks. You can try looking people up although most of their info will be private.

Have you used Soundcloud yet for sharing? Thatll probably be the best way to find people who are willing to receieve your promos as it's designed just for that.

Interesting, but what advantages does twitter give people in the music biz? Is it just like a marketing thing? Reminding people you exist?

Yep, all setup for soundcloud. Enjoying the service so far, wondering what features will be gone once my pro account expires.

Pretty much.. like anything else in the social online world its a way to keep people informed of what your doing. Not that it can't be accomplished via other means but always good to have your bases covered Wink

Same here. Still debating on upgrading, they just sent me a mail with a pretty big discount so might spring for at least the lite account. There should be a page somewhere that displays the levels of service for each type of account.

Have you been using it much?

I'm on and off it so far.

Not too much at first but been posting more stuff recently, but that's partly due to having more releases to post. I plan to stick with it though and see where it goes.
