Books/ebooks recommendations
#1
I was browsing on internet in order to find some nice books etc for producers .
I found some but not even a single taht would 100% focus on electronic dance music.

Where is more compressors ,some diffrent approaches, programming synths etc etc.

And i would like to enlarge my knowledge.

Anyone has any recommendations ?

maybe any EDM producers wrote such books ?
I would love to read something like it .

I already read some great stuff from marshall Jefferson about recording interesting chords etc,and i think it would be great to find whole book dedicated to such stuff.

Book,ebook,long article etc Smile

A buddy of mine got into music making for a few months. Ended up being (as they say in Taiwan) a "3 minute fever". He quickly abandoned it and gave me a stack of music making books as well as various other things (like a midi controller...wooo!!)

Anyhow, only one of the books I routinely go back to for help, it's "The Dance Music Manual" by Rick Snoman. I'm not saying this book is great, but it does cover a lot of ground a producer would need to know in the early stages. And covers stuff that you'll come back to look at again.

I've got the first edition. The second edition looks even better. http://www.dancemusicproduction.com/ for more info.

It also gets genre specific, which may be useful to some people. Again, it's geared more toward the beginner.

i can say one thing....

I got it,and it is a really huge book.

Dance music manual. ~500 pages of great stuff.

Obviously i started with pages about compression and limiters, and then switched to synthesis.
Compressors were really nicely explained .
Synthesis maybe nothing amazing, but i learned and understood more about the way that sounds can cooperate together.

And i have it in hands since 2 hours...Surely my knowledge will expand when i finish whole book.

Great read with great language.
Thanks glenn for nice find.
Even those most advanced users surely can find here something for them.

Glad you found it as useful as I did. Would hate to have recommended a lemon to you. BTW, I'm guessing you got the 2nd edition. I'd been thinking of taking a look at that one, but worried I'd be wasting my money. (maybe not hugely different from 1st edition) Let me know what you think after you've read through most of it. Guess there's no way I can compare the two....but if you happen to find a copy of book one floating around the internet, have a look and let me know if you think it would be worth it.
