Lately I've been thinking of putting my location and connections to use on some sort of meaningful project. I'm thinking about producing a sample pack of sounds related to Taiwan/China; specifically a vocal pack. To make it more interesting/marketable to EDM producers, I want to make an FX section. Basically just creative use of reverb, delays, whatever.....to get some usable sounds.
And yes, I know this likely won't sell too well and will get posted all over the forums for 'free' but I'm looking at it as more of a learning project; a 'spring-board' into other types of similar projects if you will.
But before I get into this, I'm trying to get a grasp on the various costs involved. The studio time, vocalists and other misc costs I've got down, but the FX section is what I'm clueless about. I'd rather not do it myself (or all by myself) as my name won't likely add any major value to the project. So I'm wanting to contract this section of the project out to someone with an at least somewhat known name.
For something like this, any ideas of how much a producer might ask? Essentially I'll give them a copy of all the dry vox and let them pick and choose which ones to create fx from. I'm thinking around a hundred different FX files would be nice....more if possible.
I realilze this is highly dependent on who's doing the work. For now I'm just trying to get a ballpark figure to see if I should even continue.
Thanks for any help
