Yes & No

You can get very interesting sounds out of it, the UI is very plain (which can be good or bad), integration into more commercial programs isnt as easy (or wasnt with capybara, you had to do external routing), costs $$$$$$, and in no way am i saying that the following programs are comparable but you can get similar results out of max/msp and to a degree reaktor i suppose.

also on mac i would check out metasynth

Am def looking forward to max for live

Yeah Rami, I read the same thing. As it was designed by mathematicians, the results are somewhat mathematical (go figure). Seems cool for a sound designer but very costly.

One would be better served with a tool designed by musicians.

ya tho dont get me wrong I wouldnt mind actually sitting down and really learning the system. Involves plenty of learning to get proficient at it. Another issue was the processing limitations. for example some of the more complex presets are not doable on a basic system, even tho all the "modules" are at your disposal in the software. I am basing this on the capybara system tho i think the same is true for the pacarana.

Thus if you look at the price and options of the paca v the pacarana youll see the slimmed down version comes with 150 presets, while the pacarana comes with 350.
