This is a general guide for taking advantage of the profile section on the main site. If there's any questions on how to register or edit your profiles etc.. you can ask them here.
What is it?
The profile area is meant to be a place for producers to showcase both finished tracks as well as ones where a collaboration is desired.
The premise is to fill out all your info including material you would like to show or share to other members. You can then search for other producers based off of things like the genre of music they are into and whether or not they have a song that they would like to work on with someone.
In essence it's a social networking site but with a focus on doing something productive.
What type of info can I enter?

You can enter in your basic about me type info including where you live so that you show up on a global google powered map, useful for finding members near you.
Other musical related information such as the type of music you are into, favourite tracks, and gear/software used for your studio.

File uploading:
Unique to the Medway Studios profile area is the ability to then upload files from your sessions such as patches and song files. At the moment a few known types such as fxp (VST patch) and als (Live song file) are supported but any other files can be programmed in on request.
You can also upload clips of songs or even parts of songs for instance loops or single samples.
The file uploads can also have a description attached and a flag set to only allow viewing from 'friends'.
As a default only logged in users can view files so they are safe from the general public.

Searching for other users:
If you're looking for a collaboration you can then head over to the profile dashboard and do a search for users who have set at least one file to 'looking for collaboration'. You can also enter in the genre that they have tagged that particular file for.
At the moment I have a fairly varied set of genres available but new ones can be added upon request.

Connecting with other users:
You can add friends and private message each other as well. The friends feature is in place so that certain files/songs you upload will only be viewable by people in your friends list.
As mentioned above, the rest of your files/songs will only only be viewable to other members. If someone is viewing your profile without having an account (or even logged in) then they will not see your files/songs.
Privacy Options:
There are two ways you can upload files. One is viewable to all logged in members and the other only to friends.
Searches will only show up files uploaded in the first option. But if someone is browsing your profile they will see the description of your private files just not the files themselves. This way they can get an idea of what you're working on and can then request your friendship based off what they see.
