Reason 5 and Record 1.5 out
#1
Haven't really kept up on Reason since I don't use it much anymore (although still think Redrum is cool for drums)

Just got a mail from Props with the new release:

Agree Jesse. That redrum is cool, i started out using reason.
Thats the thing i missed most on reason, redrum is a great drum sequencer. It's really simple and quick in getting out a cool drum pattern.

Billy, Reason is def not a low end software and anyone who claims that should probably have a closer look at it. With PPHs 'Record' intergration and a nice ssl emulation chnl strip plus NNXT sampler, subtractor virtual analog synth and loads more in there. It's def as good as any other DAWs.

Reason users on top of my head producing Ambient/House & Techno
A Guy Called Gerald - House/Techno Figure
Claude von Stroke who produced the no1 Hit 'Whos afraid of detroit'
Dave Spoon (not to sure if he still uses it)

Browse around Reason's website/links, you might see some familiar names on there..

Hope that helps and good luck! Smile

I understand Smile
It does take awhile to get comfortable with your daw.
I strongly suggest that you spent more time on it before deciding if you should port over to another platform (especially if you paid for it).
A tip for you, if reading manuals is not your thing, do a quick search on youtube. You would be surprised by the amount of tutorial videos out there.

I've used it just for drums and got great results from it, groove wise. I have tried making a few full tracks in it and found it fairly tedious. For me the whole cabling and 'physical' approach didn't seem that intuitive.

I could imagine that if you used it all the time you'd get used to that though.

And yes there are 'pro' people using it. Some of them end up exporting to something else later. As Eddie already listed some other big name artists use it as well.

So if you feel comfortable with Reason just stick with that.
