I'm trying to decide which direction to go with the background of the new site. I'm split as I see advantages in both black and white backgrounds (with reversed text of course).
White backgrounds with black text are generally known as the most readable. But there is also the case that with bright moniters all the light from the white background can be fatiguing.
I like the look of black backgrounds with lighter text but the contrast of these isn't always as good.
Since I plan on having a lot more material to read on the site getting this comfortable is a priority. If you have a preference and want to put your two cents (or pence) in let me know. At the moment I'm leaning towards the white background though.

darker stuff makes this board unique. Just the fonts qould be more brighter or something, just a bit to not make them painfull to read.
Obviously bright/white forum with black letters are most popular and i guess also easiest to read, but this dark climate here makes some nice climate
edit: i read once again, spot on,contrast,i like this black stuff, just the fonts /letters have to make bit more contrast with background

Guys, be sure you vote up top also, if you choose to leave a comment, that way it's easy to determine the preference.

I like the dark look too. I just want to make sure I don't alienate too many people who are just trying to read the tutorials etc..
The forum will stay like it is now with just some tweaks to the header and maybe slight change in colors. The new site design will definitely have a dark look. But I might try making the content area white back on black text and see how that works.
It's also hard to judge how each persons monitor is. And I think with the dark type look you have to be more careful otherwise the contrast might not be enough on some monitors which are less bright.

Ok I lightened up the font here a bit, let me know if it seems better now. Also changed the blue to match the new logo which will be on the new main site.

Black background is good for me, especially with EDM....these two just seem to go together. But to be honest, a lighter background does look more professional (in a business sense) and would give some subconsious credibility to the site. For example, like that site I brought up recently: audio.tutsplus.com Just looks clean.
I think I'm not helping...

It's definitely different, do you see the aqua blue links as well? Try reloading your browser cache as it still might be using the old CSS.
