Sorry, cant be of much help here as i don't own any 3rd party plugs as yet.
Im really keen in having a closer look at Reaktor if i get the chance. Cool
Just using Logic's built-in Synths at the moment.

Reaktor is amazing and unbelievably stable.I would say reaktor with all those ensembles is best i ever seen.Unlimited possibilities, but it is too exhausting for my cpu, thats why personally i do not have it ,but i think i will when i will switch on more powerfull machine.

Octopus i already know, good synth with decent sounds and mild to cpu

I also think that Vanguard has been unfairly maligned as just Trance-O-Centric based on it's presets which are unforunately lathered in delay/reverb. Once you turn off all the fx and really start programming from scratch you really find out how beautiful this synth can be; I've made some amazing patches ala BOC(Warp),John Foxx circa Metamatic, Travelogue era Human League...you get the picture.

Ah yes forgot about the Timewarp 2600, really great sounding one. He has a new one too, monosynth that I demoed. Had a great sound but seemed just a bit too limited.

Also agree about Vanguard it can get nice and gritty/raw if you program it correctly.

kind of related to the topic...i've just got FM8, and was wondering if anyone knew of any good tutorials/videos etc related to FM, and maybe even the FM8 itself?

I found this one which was useful if anyone is interested -

In terms of soft synths i like, I use 'Z3ta+' lots and also have 'trilogy' & 'atmosphere' - both have really good sounds but have never found them particularly useable lol.

Not sure as they are few and far between. They take ages to load is the main problem. Plus they are pretty much just samples of analog type synths so better to just program your own without having to wait for loading. They are a quick source of quality sounds though. A lot of big producers are using them even now still.
