what is "quantizing to 16C"?
Is it better to turn the effects built into VST's off and use plug-ins on the channel?

16c is a preset in mpcs and logic. its equivalent to 56% swing, 16b used to be more common at 54.1%. im deff on a higher swing kick these days.
it depends on how good they are. generally I can find something better on the channel.

coo'. i watched the begining of that video in the studio with Steve and couldn't figure out what he was talking about.
So presonal pref. really then? I go the channel route as well but was just wondering.

Really though for a lot of todays stuff, especially whats big here with Swedish producers, a lot of it is hand moved swing, really off time in places.
Most synth effects are just an after thought to help the presets sound better. Compared that to a dedicated effect where they spent all their time on just that. If the synth one is cool and does the job then of course use it. |
