Until August 9th I'll not be taking in any new mastering jobs for existing clients. For any new clients the next available date will be August 17th.
This is partly to catch up on some things, take a small break and get time to work properly on the Ableton course as I have a lot more material I need to cover.
Thank you for your patience and I look forward to being able to update the course.

been a while since i have had a question to post on here. been wrapped up in the online vids. anyone here that hasn't registered yet and is thinking about it, definitely do it, very helpful stuff, great value for your $
asked jesse this question earlier in the week but curious to hear about other ppl have to say as well..
i am working on this track and it sounds great in my headphones but doesn't translate to my mains. it has such a nice deep bass that drives the groove and it really carries the song when i listen in headphones. But in my mains, the deep bass is gone and the song seems to loose its life. Part of the problem is I live in an apt with super thin walls (i know everyone's worst nightmare) so don't get much opportunity to turn up the volume. I am wondering if this could lead to not getting the full picture out of the mains. Typical composing time I spilt maybe 50/50 with out loud and headphones. I just checked and out loud when I work I am probably only listening around 76-77db most of the time.
I don't know what my exact question is here to be honest. Basically I just need help figuring out how to make the most out of my situation. How to I get the vibe that I am hearing in my headphones, out my mains. Save me from headphone mix hell...
fyi, i am working with sony mdr 7506s and mackie 628s.
Thanks

| out of phase / beyond the stereo field |

a friend came by and we got into a discussion about this. i was continually getting spikes beyond the stereo field in a project and he thought it was completely irrelevant if everything was done ITB. He stated it would only be something to worry about if you were actually recording an audio signal and that you almost couldn't truly go out of phase if, as stated, it was all created ITB. he also pointed out chorus, phaser, flange, are all supposed to modulate the signal out of phase as that is there intent.
so is it really not an issue to worry about if everything is ITB start to finish? Which also got me thinking; almost all PA systems are mono so even if a part was truly out a little would it really make an audible distinction in a club or party setting?

I have my two latest and greatest tracks and would like to send them to some labels, would like to get any feedback before I send them out. I think generally you would get them mastered after you get them signed to a label, but I would be willing to consider getting them done before if it would up my chances of getting them signed.
I just posted them to my myspace and bandcamp right now, but will post to my website and soundcloud soon. The songs are "Deranged" and "Always up to no Good". My style is tech house/trance. Here are the links to where you can hear them:

Thanks in advance.
