Really looking to dig your brains on this one.....

I'm putting together some demos for the local radio stations. I've been trying to copy this vocal effect, but haven't been able to nail it yet. I guess it's pretty common to hear this one back home, but I've yet to hear it over here, so it could give me a leg-up if I can figure it out.

Listen to the the guy saying "Noise 4" and later "Crazy Bands".

I've messed around with compressing the hell out of the vocal to get it sounding really grainy, then adding a wee touch of distortion, followed by some wide chorus. But it doesn't sound right at all. Just sounds 'broken and not so tight'. I'm guessing they have some type of "I'm in a can" reverb going on there too. But what's getting that grainy sound?

Thanks for any help. I'll try everything you guys suggest. And if I can get it, I'll be happy to share exactly what I did.

To all those Soundtoys owners just got an email about Decapitator is now part of the new V4 pack, only $99 for the upgrade and includes another new plug, Panman along with a new preset manager. Hoping the preset manager takes care of the Live 8 issue of manual preset loading.

For those who liked the original cleansweep, they've made an update. Looks like they've added a gain control, phase reverse, and a little meter on the right. That looks about it, unless they added something under the hood.

well i myself engaged into mastering,i mean totally amateur way ,as i feckin felt that i have to learn something in thisw area and i can say that i create now really qualitywise good sounding stuff


but i want to learn about stereo imaging more now.

In my mixes i rely only on panning to make the sound fill the area,but i would like to know,for example from medway or any other user that done it before,how do you work with spatial processors,stereo imaging plugins etc in order to enhance maximalyl sounds ,still making it totally compatible with clubs sound systems




how do you apply it,when ,in which part of mix


on my easy tihnking mind i would say taht i wantd to

apply spatial processing on raw ,uncompressed mix first,and export it to wav

and then process it through mastering chain




or maybe i think in totally wrong way applying it on final mix and i should take care about it during mixing stage ?
