I'm away from my workstation for the weekend but I think you select all midi inputs. What are you other options?

I think Cubase has a stock mixer map for the Mackie Control, so you just have to load it. Creating a mixer map is a pain though, so I avoid it like the plague.

Actually you wouldn't use the mixer maps with the Mackie Control. That's because the MC is just a controller, it's not a mixer. It's purely used to control other things not to be controller by anything (other than feedback from the DAW for the flying faders and LCD readout). What a mixermap does it let you make virtual faders in Cubase control something that generates/processes sound like a synth, effect unit, or drum machine.

The Mackie Control is setup in the devices setup dialog.

Another thing to note is the particular controller needs to run in Mackie Control Universal mode (of course the Mackie itself already does this) for this to work. There are other protocols supported too such as the Yamaha mixers.

As far as the Onyx I'm not sure if this works as a controller, I think it's just A/D conversion that's passed through the firewire.

If it did support this you'll see something like "In From Onyx MIDI" which is what you would select in the device setup dialog.

Yeah i messed around with the 1640 but you're right. just converts. Actually gonna sell it as it's way more than what we need.

i did get the UC-33e working via Generic Controller in Cubase. interesting stuff. i'll definately have to play with it more.

thanks for all the info Jesse and Sven!!

Oh, and back (somewhat) on topic; Jesse do you think you could do one of these videos on Battery?

Sure Battery would be cool. Give me some ideas on what you'd like to see and I'll put it together. I'll do one on the Live Drum Rack too for comparison.

well doing kicks with it. stacking multiple samples to create a new kick. do you just leave it running instead of putting a sample on each beat, hell everything and anything you'll show me!
Yes definately drum rack
