I heard some tests of NI stuff at 96k and although the person doing it thought it was a big improvement to me it just sounded 'different'. It was if the algos were responding differently (envelopes for one) so it was if the patch itself had been changed.
I'll probably shoot John an email to see what specifically can be attained by upsampling that can't be at 44.1k.
I wonder what the last crop of Scope synths are running at under the hood, if they're also being upsampled internally as with the Minimax.
