To celebrate my current brokenness how about a thread about some good free plugins.

Everyone always mentions Crystal, but I never use it.

I'm looking for something that makes nice static distortion like ableton's vinyl distortion. any suggestions?

Cool will have to check some of those. I do like the Stillwell ones as well. The stuff by xHip is nice too, especially their analogy style synth, really raw.

Just found this one....
http://hypermammut.sourceforge.net/paulstretch/
I'm working on a project and found a really nice drone...except it was at the beginning of a longer clip that radically changed after a few seconds. After cutting it from the original, of course it had the usual clicks when played one after the other. So I did my best to x-fade, stretch, recreate the sound, everything..but to no avail. I figured maybe I could find some other stretching plugin to *maybe* stretch it enough to make it useful. I got lucky and found "Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch". Info said it can stretch times a billion! So figured even if it didn't work, it would certainly be useful for something in the future.
Long story short, it worked and I'm happy. I lost a little bit of the 'edge' of the sample (sounds a bit softer somehow) but guess that's expected. It's for offline only and looks....well, looks like nothing. But works great IMO.
Anyhow, thought it's a really good FREE plugin worth checking out if you haven't already seen it.
