Logic 8..upgrade worthy?

Im considering starting to switch over from 7...

Does anyone know if they fixed the midi learn functions?

Anything else I should know?

I'm not a big Logic user anymore but I deff found 8 to be more intuitive. What was wrong with the midi learn functions? Or do you mean the lack of?

They're confused...They get mixed up and doubled up. I pretty much fid them useless. I'm wondering if 8 is simple as ableton. Click a button, pick a parameter, touch a knob

version 8 is good, the compressor is way better, delay designer is awesome. The overall feel is more tight than V7....so yes, the upgrade is worth it.
about the midi learn you just press an icon that says midi learn..a little window opens, you choose the parameter and move a control knob. its good but not as elegant as in Live, but just cause of that little window that opens

I can deal with that! You could probably set a keyboard shortcut to get the window to open up..


How was the transition from 7 to 8 otherwise. Are a lot of the commands the same? Like V to view automation and setting up screensets, ect,

the little automation window pops up automatically, I find it much better than Logic 7 for sure. Key commands can be fully customized as in Logic 7, you could export your key commands from Logic 7 and open those in L8 and save them.
so in a way the workflow still remains the same but has been enhanced when it comes to screen views...much more tighter approach . The compressor alone has 4 new different "vintage"modes and there is a guy who made SSL presets for it.
Multi-output instruments can be created at once with its own dedicated outputs and creation of tracks-instruments tracks-busses is just 1 click away.
Version 8 is soo much better than 7

While we're on Logic questions, Zeb do you know if Logic can duplicate parts similar to Logic/Cubase/PT where by if you have say a 1 bar part, you selected it, hit control-d and a new one gets inserted adjacent to the old one?

The only way I've seen to copy on Logic is either the repeat command which brings up a dialog asking how many copies, or by dragging the part to make copies.
