How do some of you guys/gals get that 'sucking sound' in your tracks? For instance, when you're building your track up to a high point, and right before it gets to the next part (say, when a vocal comes in, or main melody) the whole track just gets 'sucked' into a vacuum milliseconds before the next part comes in....then comes back in immediately at the beginning of the next part. (prob too much explanation, I'm sure you know what I mean)

BTW, I remember reading a tutorial on how to do this a while back. All I can remember was it mentioning how to creatively use a filter to help achieve this. Damn, wish I would have bookmarked that!

Maybe a low pass on the master (or certain busses) automated on the last bar before the track kicks back in.

Been googling the hell outta it. Couldn't find it....then remembered that it may have been in a music magazine I bought a year ago. Or possibly in a book on production a buddy gave me. Been searching through those but still can't find. I'll look for some examples to post up.
More of it's starting to come back to me now. The main part of it has to do with a simple sweep. Just your basic 'swoosh' white noise filtered up as the track climaxes. Then right at the highest point, that 'sucking effect' happens. I guess there would be a very slight gap of dead silence before everything comes back in.
I'll keep looking......

Ok sounds good. I hear some tracks I think have this sound but not sure if it's the same one you're speaking of.

Sounds like you're talking abou using a high pass filter on the whole track--- although i think the trick to getting this type of effect to really sound good it to make sure you bounce down the whole track before you do this... then when doing your final edit with your filter sweep (from low to high) you can add additional intensity by adding some volume automation or completely cutting out a few milliseconds of audio, so that you have absolute silence right before the track kicks in.
This gives your ears a chance to reset as well as the speakers in the club a chance to reset so that when they kick back in it really kicks.
