Welcome. I haven't heard your track at all but I used to have this problem and it turned out to be due to too much compression and a shitty mixdown, ruined by what Bob Katz called the Loudness Wars.
This was a phenomena he identified in the industry between one track sounding hotter than the other, making future releases louder and more compressed, thereby reducing the dynamic range. In my case, I basically did myself in by doing it on a part to part level, a little nudge on the kick, a little nudge on the bass, then on the synth, then on the kick again. By the time I was done all the parts were out of wack. When played in a club the balance was way off and the track definitely had a boxy feel to it. This may not be your issue but it hurt my productions in the past. One producer I know touches the volume fader for each part mainly one time. |
