Yup really useful to use a sub layer to keep consistency. I usually just keep one or two presets handy for that. You can also try layering a sample of a short percussive transient to give the bassline a little bit of a click to make it punchy.
In general layering sounds like this works on all fronts, by layering you just get so much more control. The trick really is how creative you get with it. |
