pro tools vs. cubase
#1
I'm not trying to start a debat about which is better and all that.
I'm just curious as my band is pushing me to run PT since it's the norm in most studios and i'd be on the same learning curve and know exactly what is going on when we go into a professional studio.
i've got the fw410 and profire 2626 by m-audio so i could run PT m-powered.
so would it be worth it? i mean we're only using cubase as a scratch pad to lay ideas down and do pre-production work with.
i know a few of you guys have and/or do work both, so gimme some thoughts....Big Grin
I was thinking if i do get PT, i'd still use cubase for my electronica stuff....maybe.....dunno.

PT has come a long way now. I stopped using it though and just stuck with Cubase and Live. I'd say the biggest advantage is the compatibility factor. If you'll be in studios a lot this might be worth it.

The main thing that bugged me with PT is no offline bounce, so you always have to sit through realtime exports.

yeah a very painfully long process i experienced in the studio. seems really odd cubase can and PT can't....?

It's not that PT can't, it's a design choice they made. Still though a lot of people would love to be able to save time for when they don't need the confirmation of a live export.

Yeah i worded that wrong. i'm sure if they wanted to, it has the capabilities.

Well I'll mess around with it a bit more and let you know what questions i come up with.
