it only prooves my point that promotion > quality of song...good promotion will make you famous even when your tracks are much worse then some not recognized guys

I've often wondered if it was worth it to buy a bunch of your tracks in Beatport so that you could hit the charts.
Sometimes it seems as if once you hit that top ten chart, you're guaranteed a LOT more sales.

Too bad they didn't put out the names of the tracks. Would be interesting to know if 'we' (the buyers) thought the songs were 'great' just because they charted. Or if we actually had some sense and thought "how the hell could this have made it this far?"
I imagine the names will eventually emerge around trial time. Promotion, promotion, promotion, can does wonders. In ths industry you can promote giga crap and it will sell good...sad but true, too many people just dont have their own taste, and prefere just to hear something that is "hot" and trendy

I think inflating your sales could work but the music would still have to be good enough to work in the clubs to build a proper following.
Having a bigger dj chart your track in beatport seems to help too. I did mastering for a guy who got to about #30 in deep house but then timewriter picked up the track in his chart and it turned to a top 10. Joris Voorn just released two really nice techno tracks but the one that showed up in a well known dj's chart is the one that's climbed the sales chart (even though I prefer the other track, it even sounds better quality wise in the beatport player) I'm really curious to know who these guys are though.

You know, I've been thinking about this case....and these guys are really a big bunch of idiots. I don't know much about CC fraud, but seems to me if you use a bunch of CC's to open accounts and on every transaction it has the same songs from the same producers...well, it doesn't take a genius to figure out who the culprits are. Granted, police would have to get the invoices, which I'm sure the retailers would be happy to supply. Not sure what these guys were thinking. Unless this was just a one off thing, under pseudonyms, hoping they'd get their cash before getting spotted.
Anyhow, guess they were in it just for the money and not any recognition.

Actually,I bet that it might be the way how some already estabilished labels start for first couple of days pimp the tracks from their home ground on such sites
