I find there is a fine line between musical bliss and abrasive noise and dusty kid stomps all over that line.
I really got into a few of his tracks last year, and then some more recent stuff didn't do it for me as much. However, his new artist album is looking pretty solid. He has such a unique sound and I just love his synthy melodies.

Big ups Dusty Kid!
Anyone had a chance to see him live? He came to Toronto once, but it wasn't really properlly promoted and I didn't even know. He's rumored to be back here by years end, so fingers crossed.

Just looking to gain a little insight into what sort of typical signal processing is effective with basslines. I know like all things, a good source sound is the most important, but what happens for here.
My template is set so I start with a low cut at 30hz, and then a compressor side chained to my kick, and then an eq where I'll usually end up with a couple 2-3 db cuts (with a wide q) at the frequencies I feel are the most resonant. Then I usually add some sort of vintage compressor from my UAD collection.
My first question is, when using multiple layers of compression, and sidechaining is involved, where is it best to put the sidechained compressor in the signal chain?
How much gain reduction should we be lookng for from the kick-chained compressor? About 4-6db? What about attack time? Because its from the Kick should we have a 0ms or because its being used on a bassline, should we give it a few m.seconds of attack?
I'm also looking to find out what other tools can be used to add a little bit of umfumf to the final bassline?

Ok.
So lets assume you have your track(s) ,that you are proud of and 100% satisfied (dunno if it is possible?).Now ,as you are begginer, amateur, you wonder what to do in order to reach some audience, show what you have done.
Internet gives dozens of possiblities ,building website, myspace, sending tracks online to some labels hoping you gonna get signed etc, sending tracks to djs hoping that they gonna play your track on some gig.
Thats, what you can read or stumbble upon when browsing the internet.
We have here few estabilished producers,
What are your advices, tips when getting started with it etc etc.
I think it can be interesting topic

Hi lads.
Can you recommend some vintage sounding drum machine VST's ?
I experiment with some bit more tribal stuff and i enjoyed some vintage drum sounds. Some nice sounding stuff found in Arturia's collection,Also i found a zip file contataining drums from linndrum ,also nice stuff.
I am interested mainly in those more "bassy" drums actually,to blend them with kick in a loop .And i asked about VST,because i like sounds generated by vst and also i like to have some flexible "editability" of this sound, thats why actually wav/sound samples are not that much interesting for me.
I know there are even free VST's that sound great, vintage drum VST's,i saw one one in a tutorial video and it was awesome, but i cant remember what video it was and how the VST was named unluckily

Hi.
We had here nice topic with presets to oxford /sonnox stuff .
But another plugin with great reputation and usability is PSP VW.
Though,it is quite hard,or with other words, you really have to know what are you doing when you tweak him because tweaked badly can do more bad then positive stuff.
How U Use it?
I was earlier experimenting with it on mastering bus,but i dropped it as i knew i was doing some stuff still not good.
Anyone has any interesting presets to share ?
